A Sister City relationship beyond common measure.
It all started with a hand-shake between Sandy Holck, a veteran of the 442nd RCT that liberated Bruyères, and Gérard Deschaseaux,
a local elected official who spoke some English. After the two men met a few more times, the idea of a relationship between the two cities was born.

It all started in the 70s...
Three childhood friends were passionate about the history of the Nisei. Martial Hilaire, Bernard Hans and Pierre Moulin endeavored to welcome American visitors
and strengthen the sister city bond. They worked as guides interpreters, cooks, and even as organizers of shows, banquets, and other events.
They did everything that they could to support the city of Bruyeres as it welcomed many groups of veterans and their families on pilgrimage to Bruyères.
